About Jong Ka Jib

Located at 6600 N 5th St, Philadelphia, PA 19126, Jong Ka Jib operates as a korean restaurant serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Philadelphia, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10:30 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (215) 924-0100. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 536 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded korean restaurants in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Delicious food! The grilled eel was superb. Tasty yellow croaker and veg jap chae. We should have tried the tofu soup, but we knew all of this plus rice and banchan would be more than plenty for a filling lunch. I’ll definitely go back! The service could have been more attentive to check up on us. For most of our lunch experience, we were the only table in the restaurant, at most, there were ever only 2 tables of guests including us. β€”- Adding that I was pleased with everything until I got the bill at the counter. All was as expected except for the $13.99 for a pot of Korean tea. The tea is not on the menu. I asked for hot tea when we ordered drinks (my kids were perfectly happy with ice water). The elder server (perhaps the owner) said it was Korean tea, not green, not oolong, not corn tea…I didn’t know what it was. But it was mild, and hot. Later, when I asked the server guy for another cup of tea, he brought over an insulated pot, which was great. Now, in any other Asian restaurant when I order tea or even a refills for tea, they charge anywhere from $2-$4 and I was prepared to pay that. But the $14 for 2 cups of tea was completely unexpected and surprising and rather annoying

My kids love their soondubu🩷. Staffs are friendly and tasty - carefully assorted side dishes! Prefer here over dubu, less crowded and their spicy pork beats!

The soon du-bu is so soothing and yummy 🍲 Lots of veggie-friendly options on their menu - they’ve got a whole page+ for vegetarians. I would skip the pancake next time, but the sides are amazing and they have great service. Free private parking lot too! I love the peaceful ambiance. This is a great spot for a comfort meal in the winter ❄️

The soft tofu stew here is AMAZING. Honestly feels like a soft tofu specialty spot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It comes with stone pot rice, and you even get crispy rice at the end. I had oyster soft tofu stew AND The seasoning isn’t too heavy, super clean and comforting flavors.✨ Plz If you like sundubu, this place is a must-try

My first time trying this restaurant. For the most part, the food was pretty good, the service was decent, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 4/5 Parking - Private Parking Lot Atmosphere - The restaurant gives off a vibe of a place that used to be a go to spot but has since been outpaced by other Korean restaurants in the area. While it is very nicely decorated, when we first walked in it felt a bit quiet and not as lively or vibrant as some of the other Korean spots nearby. Service - The staff is friendly and the service is sufficient. What We Ordered - Mung Bean Pancake - which was pretty good Galbi BBQ Beef Ribs - which were not as good as some competitors in the area, for example the beef ribs from Dubu have much better flavor Seafood Tofu Stew - which was very good Final Thoughts - In terms of food, my favorite dish by far was the tofu stew, which I was told is what they are known for. Everything else ranged from okay to good. I would come back to try other items, but personally I feel there are stronger options in the same area.
